Welcoming our new emergency department leaders at Clavary Lenah Valley

Care 24-7 is proud to announce two key appointments to lead the Calvary Lenah Valley Emergency Department into its next chapter of growth and excellence in patient care.

Dr Sarbjeet (Jeet) Singh Kalsi has been appointed Medical Director, commencing in December 2025, and Dr Farhat Zarei will join as Deputy Medical Director in February 2026.

These appointments mark an exciting new era for the team, strengthening Care 24-7’s ongoing partnership with Calvary Health Care and our shared commitment to providing expert-led, compassionate emergency care without delay for the Hobart community.

Recognising strong leadership

Care 24-7 extends sincere thanks to Dr Chris Gavaghan for his leadership and outstanding contribution as Medical Director.
His dedication, clinical expertise and calm leadership have helped establish Calvary Lenah Valley’s Emergency Department as a trusted choice for patients across southern Tasmania.
While Dr Gavaghan is stepping down from the leadership role, we’re delighted he will continue as part of the Care 24-7 team, continuing to serve the Hobart community.

About Dr Jeet Kalsi - Medical Director

Dr Jeet Kalsi brings more than 20 years of international emergency medicine experience, spanning the United Kingdom, Ireland, Iceland and Western Australia. A Fellow of both the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (FACEM) and the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (FRCEM), he has held leadership roles in clinical governance, workforce planning, and medical education.

Jeet joins us from the WA Country Health Service, where he served as Consultant for Bunbury Regional Hospital and the WACHS Emergency Telehealth Service. His background also includes expedition medicine, polar operations, and international air ambulance work.

About Dr Farhat Zarei - Deputy Medical Director

Dr Farhat Zarei has more than two decades of emergency medicine experience across Australia’s metropolitan, regional and private hospitals. A Fellow of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine since 2015, Farhat has served in senior specialist roles at Peninsula Private, Mulgrave Private, John Fawkner Private, and Epworth Geelong Hospitals.

He brings broad experience in clinical management, education, and stakeholder engagement, and is known for his calm professionalism and dedication to mentoring the next generation of emergency doctors.
