Fees & payments

An upfront facility fee of $470 is payable on presentation. Please note that this fee is not claimable through Medicare.

The treating doctor’s services will be bulk billed to Medicare where eligible.

Private health insurance

ED consultation fees are not claimable under private health insurance.

ED fee applies regardless of outcome: admitted, discharged or transferred.

$0 (no out-of-pocket fee) if the claim is accepted – unless claim denied by Company (employer) on the day of injury or later.

  • Valid WorkCover claim must be provided
  • Full company and contact details required
  • Signed approval from the patient’s manager must be provided on the day
  • If the claim is denied, the patient becomes responsible for the full cost

Fully covered

Covered only for approved conditions.

  • If not approved, standard fees apply
  • Private health cover is required if condition is not covered or approved by DVA at the time of admission

  • Iron medication is included in the $300 service fee.

  • No additional out-of-pocket pharmacy cost.

  • Please note that this fee is not claimable through Medicare.
  • Accounts must be paid in full on the day of service.
  • GP referral required.
  • We recommend attending before 10 am, as wait times are typically lower.

Patient who do not hold a valid Medicare card will incur an additional $280 medical consultation fee, in addition to the $470 facility fee. Both fees are payable upfront at the time of presentation.

May be claimable on travel insurance.

Billed separately. 

Radiology,  pathology, other tests, discharge drugs, other specialist fees: Medicare may cover some of these services.

Check costs with the provider or your insurer.

Other fees

For certain additional services, such as Medical Imaging, there may be additional charges that are sent directly from the service

provider to you and part of the fee will/maybe above the Medicare schedule fee. Invoices for these services ( including take-home items such as crutches, etc.)

will be mailed to you from the service provider.  

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a referral?

You do not require a referral, unless you have booked an intravenous iron infusion

You don’t need private insurance unless you are admitted to the hospital.

From 1 November 2025, Clinpath will invoice patients directly for blood tests performed if they are not admitted to Calvary Adelaide Hospital. You can claim your eligible Medicare rebate directly, and the invoice will be capped at a maximum gap of $160. Patients under 17 and over 75, and Gold Card Veterans, remain bulk billed.
